No that is not a typo, just my failing attempt at a clever wordplay. A few Thursdays past when all of America was busy lighting garages on fire with flaming hot turkey oil, eating like it may be their last meal, rehashing the same old family arguments and drinking enough wine to make it all seem fun, it was just a regular ol' Friday here in Oz. Now, in typical American spirit, we will not let a little thing like "actually not a holiday here/way too hot/not the right foods available" get in the way of stuffing ourselves to the point of new stretch marks. Oh no, not us, we are loyal to the flag Yanks!
We celebrated the entire weekend. Literally.
First, we gorged ourselves at an Oz Giving Feast. An Australian take on the traditional holiday. Think tradition in a different way, pecan dip, fruit turkey, heaps of snags (a bunch a sausages, some turkey), turkey burgers, quinoa salad with pumpkin, you get the idea.

We had barely digested our turkey sausages when we were off to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving feast, complete with ham, turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, corn bread, homemade pumpkin pie and apple pie.

ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for this post. Looks like a great time with great friends. Soon, we will be starting another eat-and-drink-a-thon for the Christmas holidays. The boys are looking so grown-up and their friends are so cute! Can't wait to see y'all...I'm counting the days!
